Feed Your Hair These Foods

You’ve probably heard the saying, “you are what you eat.” Well, your hair is an outward sign of your inward health. Eating these food will not only improve your overall health but keep your hair, skin and nails healthy too! Seek out foods that are high in:

  • Omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA) are abundant in fish such as salmon, sardines, mackerel, herring, lake trout, anchovies and tuna. Vegetable oils, flaxseed, walnuts contain the vegetable version (ALA) of Omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Iron, Vitamin A, Beta Carotene. Dark leafy vegetables such as spinach and kale as well as sweet potatoes help keep the hair moisturized to prevent breakage and restore shine.
  • Protein. Protein-packed Greek yogurt contains vitamin B5 which helps with blood flow to your scalp and and helps in hair growth. Eggs, soybeans and lentils and dark leafy vegetables are high in protein as well.
  • Vitamin C. Fruits such as guava, oranges, grapefruit, strawberries and kiwi are high in vitamin C. Vegetables red peppers, kale, brussel sprouts and broccoli are great sources of this vitamin which helps prevent breaking.
